It is wise to read God’s word aloud because there is power in the spoken word. However, if you are not in a private and secluded place when you are reading God’s word, it is acceptable to read the verse silently. It is never good to pray and communicate with God solely for the purpose of impressing those around you. Your communication with God should be private and intimate, just like the private time you spend with your friends, children and loved ones.

Speaking in Tongues
1 Corinthians 12:10

* Some Christians pretend to “speak in tongues” when in fact they are doing nothing except insulting Jesus Christ. When the Holy Spirit is present and someone is truly “speaking in tongues” the room will be perfectly quiet (there is no sound, not even the rustling of the tree or a cry from a child); and an interpreter will always be present to interpret the message that was spoken in God’s Holy language. If these two things do not occur, and a person pretends to speak in an “unknown” language, they are a blasphemer.

Jesus is not a genie in a bottle. He does not jump at anyone’s command. Instead, God chooses when and if He speaks through a person. Those who practice deception in this gift are doing the commanding and not allowing God to work through them in His own time and for His own purpose. This is blasphemy.
